Gwendolyn R. Amamoo (born in Birmingham) heads the teacher mentoring program for Birmingham City Schools.

Amamoo attended Wilkerson Middle School and Parker High School and graduated from Miles College and UAB. She spent her career at Birmingham schools. She has also served on the Birmingham Public Library Board since 2008, and as president in 2013-2014, and chairs the Ghana committee for the Birmingham Sister City Commission. She is also a deaconess at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church.

She is married to Paul Amamoo, a pediatrician and native of Ghana, and has three children, Ahinee, Nii-Amar (Brenda), and Amartei.
