This is a List of Birmingham homicides in 1987. It includes homicide cases occurring within the city limits during the calendar year. Note that not all homicides are ultimately ruled to be murder in courts of law.

• November 19: Prescott Davis, 24, was found dead in Village Creek with a .22-caliber bullet wound in his back. Investigators learned he had been shot near Avenue J and 11th Street in Ensley. Marlon Lamar Tucker was indicted by a grand jury on murder charges in May 1988.
• December 25: Tony Smith, 22, a resident of the North Birmingham Homes public housing project, died at Carraway Methodist Medical Center from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Douglas McArthur French was indicted by a grand jury on murder charges in May 1988.
