Neil Shah

Nilay J. "Neil" Shah (born November 17, 1982) is a public safety and security project manager and a candidate for Birmingham City Council District 2 in the 2013 Birmingham municipal election.

Shah earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and computer science at Georgia State University and a masters in public policy and administration awarded jointly by Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University. He worked as an assistant to the city manager of Oak Hill, Tennessee.

As a City Council candidate, Shah emphasized the need for fresh, diverse perspectives. He supports the creation of a city manager position and the deployment of technology to improve policing.
