Sarena Martinez

Sarena Martinez (born March 24, 1996) was a manager of special projects for the Birmingham Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity from 2018 to 2020.

Martinez studied at Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois and graduated from Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. She earned a bachelor of arts in psychology at Vanderbilt University in 2016 and spent two years as a Venture for America Fellow, promoting entrepreneurship for economic opportunity with Innovate Birmingham. She was hired under Mayor Randall Woodfin's administration to continue that work.

In 2019 Martinez was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to pursue a Master of Public Policy degree at Oxford College in England beginning in September 2020.
