Red Mountain Gap

I believe 18th Street comes through Lone Pine Gap, not Red Mountain Gap. My understanding is that Red Mountain Gap is to the east, where Arlington Ave./Smolian Pl./Cahaba Rd. goes over. --Lkseitz 13:46, 29 August 2007 (PDT)

  • We could definitely use some better sources. That particular bit of info came from bhamrails.info --Dystopos 14:24, 29 August 2007 (PDT)
    • My source was Homewood: The Life of a City, although even there the author is inconsistent once or twice in which gap is which. The 1907 Bessemer map labels several gaps, including Red Mountain Gap, but not Lone Pine Gap. 1889 and 1897 maps label the gaps, but some, including the two in question, are given different names. --Lkseitz 19:20, 29 August 2007 (PDT)
