Trussville Furnace

The Trussville Furnace was an iron furnace located on the site of the present Cahaba Elementary School at 301 Parkway Drive.
The furnace was in operation between 1889 and 1919 producing foundry pig iron. Of note was the pig iron manufactured here was utilized in the armament efforts during World War I. The furnace closed in the spring of 1919 and was dismantled in 1933.
The land where it once stood was then sold in 1935 to the United States as part of the site of the Cahaba Homestead Village.
