Village Creek Society

The Village Creek Human and Environmental Justice Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 and incorporated in 1999 by long-time activist Mable Anderson, who grew up in the frequently flooded neighborhood of Moro Park in Ensley. Until 2016 Anderson worked closely with retired civil engineer Richard S. Woodruff.

The current executive director is Yohance Owens. Its offices are at 1329 Forestdale Boulevard.

The Village Creek Society aims to improve Village Creek's environment to benefit the residents, businesses and institutions in its watershed. The organization has participated in planning projects, flood-control projects, bank stabilization, clean-ups, environmental and human justice education programs, and recreational development. The group celebrated the opening of phase one of the Village Creek Greenway in Ensley in 2016.
