Charles "Charlie" Ard was a jazz trombonist, arranger and composer who resided in Birmingham. For many years, he was respected as one of the finest trombonists in the southeast. He was a founding member of the SuperJazz Big Band, contributing many fine arrangements to the band's library. He was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 2001.
