The BB&T Bank Building (formerly the Colonial Bank Building) is a five-story 125,000-square-foot office building at 2501 20th Place South, on the former Shades Valley High School site near the U.S. Highway 280 interchange with the Elton B. Stephens Expressway. The $12 million building was constructed by B. L. Harbert International for Colonial Bank.

It was designed by Williams Blackstock Architects with a dramatic curved-glass facade layered with precast concrete on the sides and base. Because the building was visible from higher elevations, the mechanical equipment was placed in the basement rather than the roof.
