Lay Lake

Lay Lake is a 12,000 acre lake created in 1914 by Alabama Power's construction of the Lay Dam on Coosa River to create hydro-electric power.

Lay Lake is situated along the borders of Shelby, Chilton and Coosa Counties. It features 47 nautical miles and 289 miles of shoreline. It has hosted the 1996, 2002 and 2007 Bassmaster Classic fishing tournaments.
