Auntie Litter, Inc. is a national non-profit organization based in Birmingham. The organization, founded in 1990, is dedicated to promoting a clean and healthy environment. The organization's headquarters are located at 1776 Independence Court in Homewood on Shades Mountain.
The Auntie Litter character was created by Pat Mitchell to facilitate environmental education in the Birmingham area. Over the years, the organization grew, and there are other "Auntie Litter" educators who don the recognizable uniform of green, white, and blue with stars and stripes throughout the country.
The current board of directors includes Bart Starr, Bill Ireland and actor Ed Begley, Jr.
