Bobby Joe Seales is a former auditor, former president of the Shelby County Historical Society and former director of the Shelby County Museum and Archives in Columbiana.

Seales grew up in Alabaster and earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics at Alabama College (now the University of Montevallo). He met his wife, the former Diane Brandenberg, while in college. They married on December 6, 1969 and the couple later inherited her family's estate, the Thompson Place, where they raised two sons.

Seales worked as an internal auditor and credit manager and also served his church as a youth minister.

Seales retired from both positions on November 1, 2015. He was succeeded by Jennifer Maier as director of the Shelby County Museum. Seales was presented with a key to the city of Alabaster by Mayor Marty Handlon.

Seales is also a member of the 2004 class of Leadership Shelby County.
