Neighborhood map Central Pratt

The Central Pratt neighborhood is a neighborhood in Birmingham's Pratt community. It is bounded to the south by the former Birmingham Mineral Railway, to the west by Village Creek and Cordova Avenue, to the north by Pratt Highway, and to the east by Avenue W Pratt (except for the Tuxedo Park subdivision and another few residential blocks stretching toward Pratt City Park in the northeast part of the neighborhood. Carline Avenue, following the route of the former No. 6 Pratt-Ensley streetcar line, forms the spine of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood includes the former site of the Pratt Slope No. 1 coal mine and coke ovens, as well as the Pratt convict cemetery, west of what is now Howze-Sanford Park.

The neighborhood is represented by Birmingham City Council District 8 and District 9.

The Central Pratt Neighborhood Association meets on the 1st Monday of each month at the Howze-Sanford Recreation Center at Howze-Sanford Park on Avenue D. The long-time neighborhood president, Leroy Bandy, died in May 2016.
