Charles F. Davis Jr was a partner in the architectural firm E. B. Van Keuren & Chas. F. Davis Jr. and its successors, known since 1986 as Davis Architects.
He graduated from Auburn with a bachelor of architecture in 1932 and married his wife Helen in 1935. She also graduated from Auburn as an architect that year and joined him in practicing architecture. Together they had two sons (Charles III and Neil), a daughter (Helen). All three of her children pursued architectural careers.
In the 1950s he was the principal designer of the new campus for Howard College (later Samford University) and is honored by a plaque on the school's Centennial Walk.
