Revenues from registrations were shared with the [[Desert Island Supply Company]] writing program and the Alabama Gulf Coast Environmental Recovery Fund.

Author Virginia Willis led sessions on recipe development. Other presenters included Kara Neilson, Dennis Malcolm Byron. [[Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q]] hosted the opening night party, sponsored by the [[Alabama Tourism Department]]'s "Year of Alabama Food" campaign. Catering for the event was provided by Jim 'N Nick's along with [[Church Street Coffee and Books]], [[Good People Brewing Company]], the [[Southeastern United Dairy Industry]] and [[Shindigs Catering]].

The conference was organized by Jason Horn and Shaun Chavis. The headline presenter for the first conference was Kim Severson, author and columnist for The New York Times. Other presenters included Erin Shaw Street, Jennifer Davick and Marian Cooper Cairns of Southern Living and local bloggers Wade Kwon, André Natta, Amanda Storey, and John-Bryan Hopkins.
