Francis Falkenburg

Francis Falkenburg was a former manager of the Alabama Theatre.

Falkenburg was a native of Florida. He worked for several Miami theatres, including managing the Olympia Theater. He joined employee Wilby-Kincey of Atlanta, owners of several movie theatres across the southeast, around 1933. Prior to coming to Birmingham, he worked for two years inSouth Carolina.

When Falkenburg came to the Alabama, he brought in Stanleigh Malotte, whom he'd become friends with while in Florida, to the Alabama as its organist.

During his years in Birmingham, Falkenburg became involved in several civic groups and charities, most notably Community Chest and the Red Cross. Falkenburg allowed both organizations, and others, to use the Alabama for rallies. He was also an executive member of the Birmingham area Boy Scouts, charter member of the Vestavia Country Club, and member of the Birmingham Advertising Club, the City Sales-men's Club, the Birmingham Aero Club, the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, the Birmingham Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Young Men's Business Club.

Falkenburg resigned as Alabama Theatre manager effective in 1950 to establish his own business.
