Fried Green Radio is a planned independent radio station for the Birmingham area. The organizers are currently working to establish themselves as a non-profit organization and have signed up potential DJ's for programming that will broadcast over the Internet starting on January 1, 2007, until the day comes when space is made available over the broadcast spectrum, more than like on an AM frequency.

Organizers

Fried Green Radio's organizers are Angie May, Dama Nichols, and Lisa Cordes. The original broadcasts will originate from Nichols' basement in Irondale, but plans call for the station to move to a studio in Southside early in 2007.

Format

FGR's focus is to provide Birmingham with a lineup of material that can't be found on mainstream radio. Playlists are to include blues from the 1920s to 1940s, underground hip-hop, themed rock, literary readings, hardcore, ghost stories and conspiracy theories.

A benefit show will be held on December 9 at The High Note Lounge.
