George H. Gaunt (born January 13, 1912 in Vassar, Michigan - died February 24, 2005) was an architect and partner in the firm of Mims and Gaunt.
Gaunt grew up in Michigan and attended Albion College in Albion, Michigan, graduating in 1933. He worked at a bank in Flint before entering the University of Michigan in 1937 to study architecture. After graduating in 1941 he worked briefly for the American Bridge Company before enlisting in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Following the war, Gaunt worked for the Ann Arbor firm of Colvin and Heller. He came to Birmingham in 1947 and joined the firm of Pembleton and Mims, becoming an associate in 1951. He and fellow associate William Poole were made partners in 1961 following Pembleton's death. Poole left later that year and Gaunt remained with Mims, closing the firm in 1992, two years after his partner's death.
Gaunt, a member of First United Methodist Church, died in 2005. He was survived by his daughter and three grandchildren.
