David William "Gump" Ariail (born December 29, 1910 in Birmingham; died February 10, 2001 in Fayetteville, North Carolina) was a professional football player and an Army Colonel during World War II.

Ariail, a graduate of Phillips High School, was drafted in 1934 out of Auburn University by the Cinicinnati Reds. He played one game for the Reds and one game for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1945, Ariail served in combat in France and Germany.
