Hotel was a power-pop band formed in Birmingham in 1973 and active until 1982. The group had varying line-ups in its first few years playing clubs in Alabama. By 1976 a regular line-up of Marc Phillips (piano, lead vocals), Tommy Calton (guitar, vocals), Lee Bargeron (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Mike Reid (guitar, vocals), George Creasman (bass, vocals) and Michael Cadenhead (drums, vocals) had solidified.

The group recorded a single, "You'll Love Again" for Mercury Records in 1977. It had some regional success but failed to make waves on the national charts. In 1979 the group signed with MCA Records and recorded an eponymous full-length album featuring the singles "You've Got Another Thing Coming" and "Hold On to the Night".

The band's second album Half-Moon Silver was released in 1980, with the single "Refugee". Neither album sold well and MCA dropped Hotel after the second album. The group disbanded in 1982 with Phillips and Calton continuing to work together as the Calton-Phillips Group, which soon became Split the Dark.
