The [[SpringHill Suites]] in [[downtown Birmingham]] was opened in Spring [[2009]] as a Hyatt Place.
A third Hyatt Place Hotel was constructed at 2024 [[4th Avenue South]] on the corner of [[20th Street South|20th Street]] to serve visitors to downtown Birmingham and [[UAB]]. The site, formerly [[Tom Williams Cadillac]], was purchased from [[Liberty National Life Insurance]]. The project was announced in October [[2007]] and was originally projected to open in late [[2008]]. Opening was delayed until mid-summer [[2009]]. [[Golden Construction]] was general contractor and Southern Hospitality Services, a division of Welden Field, manages operations.
 
The 100% non-smoking hotel features a Bakery Café and fitness center, both open 24 hours, and an indoor pool.

There are three Hyatt Place Hotel properties in the Birmingham area. The chain features oversized beds and sleeper sofas in each guest room, along with 42" flat-panel HDTVs with customized programming and connections for personal computers and media devices. The hotels have wireless internet throughout.

Hyatt Place Birmingham/Inverness

The first Hyatt Place Hotel opened at 4686 U.S. Highway 280 in Inverness. (link)
