Jack Wood Stadium, on July 28, 2006

Jack Wood Stadium is located at 401 Parkway Drive in Trussville and primarily served as the home stadium for the athletic teams of the Trussville School System and as a venue for annual commencement exercises. It was constructed in the late 1940s, opening for football in 1948. Originally called Husky Stadium or Hewitt-Trussville Stadium, it was renamed in 1998 in honor of long-time Hewitt-Trussville High School head football coach Jack Wood. In 2014, the schools' athletic teams moved to the new Hewitt-Trussville Stadium on Husky Parkway.

Stadium Features

The southern side features the original bleacher seating and a small press box. Underneath the stands is a pair of locker rooms and the band room for the middle school. At the eastern end of the stands is the Main Concession Stand, and at the western end in the Parkway Concession Stand, both operated by the HT Band Boosters. Additional restrooms and a players entrance to the locker room was completed in 1989 and dedicated to the memory of local resident Steve Hill are located at the northern end.

The northern side features visitor bleacher seating that was installed in 1996. At the western end of the stands is the Visitors Concession Stand operated by the HT Band Boosters.

The football field is surrounded by a 1/4 mile track, with the HT Band bleachers being located at the end of the eastern end zone adjacent to the main scoreboard.

The stadium served as the venue for most Hewitt-Trussville graduations from 1949 through 2014, when 367 seniors walked across the stage on the field.
