Jamie Moore

Jamie Moore (born 1906; died December 24, 2002) was Chief of the Birmingham Police Department from 1956 to 1972.

Moore began his career as a patrolman in 1936 and was promoted to chief 20 years later, working under Public Safety Commissioner Bull Conner. In 1957 Conner accused Moore of misconduct, but the charges were dismissed by the Jefferson County Personnel Board.

After leaving the department, Moore became an investigator for the Attorney General of Alabama. His car was peppered with gunshots one night outside his house during the re-investigation of the 1963 church bombing.
