Jane Speed's Book Store was a leftist and communist bookseller located at 1907 5th Avenue North. It was owned by Jane Speed and her husband César Iglesias, with Jane's mother, Dolly helping out.
Through its stock and window displays, Jane Reed's Book Store argued that the South's greatest problems were the exploitation of the laboring classes and the threat of fascism. In addition to books on politics and labor issues, the store carried copies of the Daily Worker and other left-wing newspapers.
