Julia von Samson

Julia von Samson Himmelstjerna (born January 15, 1984 in Frieburg, Germany) is a tennis player for the UAB Blazers. She is the daughter of Arnim and Birgit Samson and was raised in the Freiburg region of Baden-Württemberg where she competed for the SV Oberweier club while completing school at the Max Weber Gymnasium.

As a freshman for UAB in Fall 2003, Von Samson finished third in tournament victories with a 5-7 singles record and a 5-5 doubles record. The next spring. she went 11-15 in singles matches (6-6 in Conference USA) and 14-9 in doubles (5-1).

In Fall 2004, Von Samson went 5-3 in singles play and 5-5 in doubles. That spring she went 8-13, marked by a 5 match winning streak in March 2005 that included three 3-set victories. Her doubles record was 9-10.

In the Fall of 2005, she improved to a 5-1 singles record and advanced to the fourth round of flight B singles at the ITA Southern Regionals. In the spring she compiled an 8-7 singles record and an 11-3 doubles record, teamed with Annemieke Eisholz.
