Lake Logan Martin

Lake Logan Martin is a reservior of the Coosa River.

The lake was created on August 10, 1964 when Alabama Power impounded the area north of the Logan Martin Dam. Both the lake and the dam were named after William Logan Martin, Jr, a circuit court judge in Montgomery who also served as attorney general for the State of Alabama. The lake covers 15,263 acres and has 275 miles of shoreline. The nearest town is Pell City.

Lake Logan Martin provides Alabama Power with and annual generating capacity of 128,250 Kilowatts. It is used as a recreational lake with fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, spotted bass, bluegill and other sunfish, crappie, catfish, striped bass, hybrid and white bass. Alabama Power maintains three public access sites on the lake.

Lake Logan Martin has been the site of three Bassmaster Classic fishing tournaments, in 1992, 1993, and 1997.
