This is a List of Villages, mainly shopping areas that use the word "Village" in their name, often as a way of connecting themselves with the successful trio of Mountain Brook villages, developed as commercial centers for the planned suburb of Mountain Brook beginning in 1927. • The Cherokee Bend subdivision in Mountain Brook, developed in the 1960s, was originally intended to have a neighborhood retail "village", in a Colonial Williamsburg architectural style. However homeowners in the fast-growing subdivision opposed nonresidential zoning.
