List of homicides in 1982

This is a List of homicides in 1982. It includes homicide cases occuring throughout the Birmingham area during the calendar year. Note that not all homicides are ultimately ruled to be murder in courts of law.

Jefferson County

Bessemer

1. March 6: Robert Lee Cleckler was stabbed to death. Kenneth Allen Carlee was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. He died at the Donaldson Correctional Facility in February 2018.

Birmingham

Shelby County

1. November 12: The body of an unidentified newborn female, referred to as Baby Doe, was found in the Shelby County Landfill. She was never identified, and was interred at the Columbiana City Cemetery. No arrest. (report)

Talladega County

1. Cynthia Louise Hanes, 24, was found, dead from a blow to the head, in the town of Munford. She was not identified until 2010. No arrest. (report)

Tuscaloosa County

1. April 18: An unidentified woman was found dead near the banks of the Warrior River off Dry Creek Road near Fosters. She appeared to have been beaten and sexually assaulted before being strangled to death.
2. October 21: Birdie Everett, 72, owner of Birdie Everett Florist at 2804 20th Avenue in Northport, was strangled to death in her shop in an apparent robbery. A potential suspect made a confession implicating himself and two others, but it could not be corroborated.
