Bibb County
- February 25: Desta Dodson-Byrd was found shot to death near her driveway at Brierfield Estates. A .22 rifle was recovered on the scene, but investigators ruled out suicide based on the entry wound's location. Her husband, William Jody Byrd, was arrested and charged with her death in May 2011. - August 5: Lee Holdbrooks, 32, was shot to death at Ferguson Enterprises in Pelham by delivery driver Alan Eugene Miller, who was convicted and sentenced to death.
- August 5: Christopher Yancy, 28, was also killed by Miller at the same location.
- August 5: Terry Jarvis, 39, was shot to death by Miller at Post Airgas, a previous employer also in Pelham.
Tuscaloosa County
- September 23: Stephanie Collins was found dead on Moody Swamp Road in West Tuscaloosa. An acquaintance, Eric Horton, was suspected, but not located until he was found serving a drug sentence at the St Clair Correctional Facility. He was charged with murder in May 2009 and indicted by a grand jury. [1]
