Michael McClure, Jr

Michael McClure, Jr (born c. June 15, 1983) in Birmingham, AL is the founder and pastor of The Rock Church (Forestdale).

McClure, son of Pastor Michael McClure, Sr and Angela Woods McClure of Revelation Church Ministries, graduated from Minor High School, and attended University of West Alabama to play college football, but dropped out after three years after he felt he was called into ministry. He is the brother of Angelique McClure, a graduate of Stillman College and Darius McClure, the Senior Pastor of Christ Church in Fairfield, AL.

He is married to JaQuetta McClure and the father to sons - Xander, Michael III, and Mason, all of which have the family middle name of DeWayne for male children.

McClure founded The Rock Church in 2009 at Miles College in a college ministry known as Royal Nation Movement, then moved the congregation to L. R. Hall Auditorium in downtown Birmingham. In 2010, the church purchased the former West Birmingham Christian School's 12-acre campus in Forestdale. Since 2012, he has also operated separate campuses to include the Downtown campus located at the Historic Carver Theatre and the East Campus located at the New Center Point High School as well as an online campus. McClure is featured on a daily weekday broadcast on MY68 in Birmingham, Gadsden, and Tuscaloosa, AL markets. The church has grown to nearly 10,000 members and is one of the fastest growing churches. McClure is a member of the Shepherds Connection under the direction of Dr. R.A. Vernon, Senior Pastor of "THE WORD" Church in Cleveland, OH.

In 2011, McClure was listed in the Who's Who in Black Alabama Inaugural Edition. In the same year, McClure made history by packing 7,000 people into an Easter service at the Boutwell Auditorium. Giving away over 10,000 pounds of food to the community, holding a $9,000 gas giveaway, and by having an adult Easter Egg Hunt, the historic weekend brought together outreach and celebration.

McClure received a Diploma of Theology from Ashland Theological Seminary in Cleveland, OH in 2012. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from Ashland.

In 2013, McClure received international recognition through his controversial billboards labeled 'Strip For Me' posted over a popular adult entertainment spot, The Palace Gentleman's Club. This came because Hebrews 12:1 says, 'Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, strip off every weight and sin…'" Pastor McClure declares in the video, which is growing in views, published on March 25, 2013.

In the wake of several Birmingham catastrophes including multiple homicides plaguing the community, devastating tornadoes, and house fires, McClure responded with a thought-provoking YouTube video featuring Sam Cooke's "A Change Gonna Come" depicting a scene from the stellar Malcolm X biopic. Entitled, "Rock the City." The short film was directed by director mastermind, Brandon Mason.
