The Peavine Falls Run is an 8.2 mile footrace held each year on the Fourth of July at Oak Mountain State Park. The race was first organized by Rick Melanson in 1980 to absorb spillover from Atlanta's huge Peachtree Road Race 10K. It is now an official event of the Birmingham Track Club and averages about 350 mostly local runners each year.

The race begins at the upper picnic area on Terrace Drive at 7:00 AM and follows a course up to the Peavine Falls trailhead parking lot, and then back down with the final 1.2 miles on a mountain bike trail.
