Rugby Avenue is a mostly residential street that loops through South East Lake from Oporto-Madrid Boulevard (formerly 77th Street South) to 83rd Street South. It formerly carried the South Highlands Car Line streetcar (Birmingham Electric Company Route 36), which served Howard College. The street serves as part of the boundary of the Howard College Estates Historic District.
