Southern Banknote is a printer of financial instruments located at 3501 7th Avenue South in Avondale. The company was founded in 1896 as a division of Roberts & Sons. It was spun off as a separate business by Fred Arn in the early 1960s. It was purchased in 1980 by Joseph South III. The firm's general manager is James M. Webb.

Southern Banknote produces bond notes and stock certificates for government agencies and private companies all over the United States. The notes are painstakingly printed onto fine papers with intricate designs rendered in specialty inks, a result of centuries of anti-counterfeiting efforts. Modern practice of registering notes has greatly reduced the threat of theft or forgery, but the company still maintains an unassuming presence in a secured building without exterior signage.

The company has published a newsletter, Southern Banknote News, since 1987.
