Location
- Since the community is unincorporated, I'm having trouble pinning it down. Foscue-1989 and the USGS maps agree on the central coordinates just north of I-459, but that location (on Flint Ridge Road) is marked as "Flint Ridge" on some maps while "McCalla Road" veers off to the south-southeast toward McAdory. Meanwhile the McCalla PO is presently located on Old Tuscaloosa Highway further south-southwest. And it doesn't help that the community claims Coleman Lakes and Tannehill SP, both rather distant from the "center" of the community or from McAdory HS. -- So, if anyone finds a reference claiming to define the geography of McCalla, please add it. --Dystopos 19:33, 14 March 2009 (PDT)
- I don't have a reference, only personal experience. I grew up in Hueytown, and the area in Jefferson County from the southern Bessemer border to the Bibb and Tuscaloosa lines, including Tannehill (anything south of I-59 and east of 459) is generally called "McCalla". --Wheresdib 07:02, 15 March 2009 (PDT)
