Not to be confused with [[{{{1}}}]].

Usage

{{Distinguish}} is a hatnote used on Bhamwiki, and so should be placed at the top of an article, linking the reader to an article with a concept that they may have been seeking instead. This template takes only a single, unnamed parameter, which is the article name to be linked to.

The difference between the Distinguish and About templates is that the former (Distinguish) should be used when two entities are similar in location, time, and/or function, but don't share similar names. The latter (About) is for when several entities might be confused with each other because of similar names. This is particularly true when users use search to find an article, rather than clicking on a link.

  • {{Distinguish|foo}}
Not to be confused with foo.

Examples

  • {{Distinguish|John's Variety Store}} (On an article titled "Smith 5 & 10", which opened two doors down from John's, two years after John's closed. Thus, people might confuse them 20 years later.)
Not to be confused with John's Variety Store.
