Trussville Furnace

The Trussville Furnace was located at 301 Parkway Drive where Hewitt-Trussville Middle School now rests. The furnace was in operation between 1889-1919 producing foundry pig iron. Of note was the pig iron manufactured here was utilized in the armament efforts during World War I. The furnace would close in the spring of 1919 with it finally being dismantled in 1933. The land where it once stood was then sold in 1935 to the federal government to construct the Cahaba Village.
