The UAB Drumline is a performing group and the percussion section of the UAB Marching Blazers marching band.

The group was created in the UAB Department of Fine Arts in 1994. Former Vestavia Hills High School percussion instructor Chris Moore was hired to initiate the program which began with forty students. UAB earned a 10/12 and won the "High Cymbals" award at their first PASIC competition that fall.

As the group established itself as a quality ensemble, Eric Hollenbeck took the baton in 1996, and guided the group to a second place finish overall at PASIC in 1999. During his tenure the group added a steel drum section.

In 2001 Gene Fambrough succeeded Hollenbeck as director of the drum line. He implemented an electronic drums program with MIDI controlled instruments as the drum program expanded into the UAB Percussion Studio. The staff was expanded with the additions of Laura Noah in 2004 and Michael Glaser in 2008.
