Walter Eugene Braswell (born c. 1954 – died January 3, 2010) was a lawyer who served briefly as interim U. S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama after the death of Claude Harris in 1994.
Braswell had an early interest in politics and served as a congressional page for Senator John Sparkman. He earned his bachelor's degree in history at the University of Alabama and completed his Juris Doctorate at the University of Alabama School of Law. He began his practice in Tuscaloosa.
Braswell was a longtime assistant to Harris, managing his successful 1986 campaign for United States Congress. When Harris was appointed U. S. Attorney, he hired Braswell as his first assistant. Braswell succeeded him as interim U.S. Attorney when he died from cancer in October 1994 and served through the first months of 1995.
After leaving public office he continued to practice in Birmingham. He represented former Jefferson County Commissioner Gary White on bribery and corruption charges and represented Vanessa Hill in her challenge of the results of the 2004 Greensboro mayoral election.
