The Wright Building was a large commercial building constructed in the 1880s on the corner of 3rd Avenue North and 19th Street to house the Birmingham Post Office.
In 1883 the upper floors of the Wright Building were leased to the Birmingham Board of Education for classes of the city's Central High School. The steam laundry operating from the ground floor proved detrimental to study, so the school was moved to the Enslen Building in 1890.
