Chuantae Brown

Chuantae A. Brown (born c. 1990 in Birmingham) is the Democratic nominee for Jefferson County District Court, Place 11 (Bessemer Division) in the 2024 general election.

Brown graduated from Ramsay High School and earned her bachelor of arts in criminal justice and political science at the University of Alabama in 2012. She went on to study at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in Montgomery. She served as an editor of the Faulkner Law Review, then transferred to the University of Alabama School of Law to complete her juris doctorate in 2015.

Since joining the Alabama State Bar, Brown has practiced with the Jefferson County Public Defender's Office and as an assistant Jefferson County District Attorney. She first sought the Place 11 seat in the 2018 election, but lost in the Democratic primary to Thomas Thrash.

Brown's candidacy was endorsed by the Alabama Democratic Conference, the Alabama New South Alliance, the Jefferson County Citizens Coalition, and Team 7 PAC. In February 2024 Brown's campaign reported a $150,000 contribution from "Wohray Inc." with an address at the Chase Corporate Center. The campaign reported returning a contribution in the same amount to "Wohrae Inc.", labeled "NSF", in March.

Brown is married to John Brown, assistant commander of the criminal investigations division of the University of Alabama Police Department, and has one daughter.
