Hunter Bell

Hunter Bell (born c. 1971) is a jewelry designer, artist, poet and fundraising professional.

Hunter, the son of Ricky and Ginger Bell, graduated from Pell City High School in 1989. He spent some time in Tuscaloosa; Charlottesville, Virginia; and Sedona, Arizona in the 1990s before returning to Birmingham, where completed a bachelor of arts in philosophy at UAB in 2000. As a poet and spoken word artist he co-founded the Birmingham Poetry Slam with Craig Legg and led programming for the "Spoken Word Festival" at City Stages. He was also a participant in the Birmingham Improv Festival.

Bell has worked in the education department at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, as art director and camp coordinator for the Woodlawn Family Resource Center, as an events coordinator for the Alabama Center for Law & Civic Education, and as a curator of Sun Ra materials for the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. From 2002 to 2008 he was employed as a membership manager for WBHM-FM and produced artist profiles for the "Tapestry" program.

Throughout his life, Bell has designed and crafted jewelry, often large-scale, from found materials. He sells his jewelry under "Hunter Bell Designs", and as part of his shamanistic practice centered around his "Chapel of the Sun".

Bell is also the founder and owner of Paragon Fundraising & Development and a vice president of fundraising for the American Advertising Federation.
