Max Michael III (born c. 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia) was formerly the dean of the UAB School of Public Health.

Michael graduated from Harvard Medical School. He previously served as CEO and medical director at Cooper Green Mercy Hospital and practiced as part of the Jefferson Clinic, which provided primary care services at the county-owned hospital.

After the Jefferson County Commission voted to cease providing inpatient care and emergency services at Cooper Green, Michael offered five months of his time to help plan the transition to contracted indigent care services. His offer was not accepted.

In the 2014 Democratic primary, Michael challenged incumbent Sandra Little Brown for the District 2 seat on the Commission.
