North Birmingham EcoScape

The North Birmingham EcoScape is a community garden on the 2600 block of 30th Avenue North in the North Birmingham neighborhood. Opened on October 14, 2010 the garden is designed with flower beds and fruit trees with opportunities for passive recreation and outdoor education.

The land was donated for the project by Wachovia Bank, and plants, materials and labor by the City of Birmingham. Partners in the garden's development were the North Birmingham Merchants Association, Main Street Birmingham and Birmingham-Southern College's Southern Environmental Center. Funding for the $50,000 installation was provided by the Jefferson County Health Department, the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, and the CAWACO Resource Conservation and Development Council. The garden was designed by the Birmingham chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
