James Robert Burton IV (born March 30, 1989 in New York City) is the executive director of SWEET Alabama and board secretary for the Birmingham Land Bank Authority
Burton is the son of investment banker J. Robert Burton III of Auburn, Alabama, and his wife, the former Barbara Blount Lovelace of Brewton, Alabama. He moved to Birmingham in 2008 from Bronxville, New York, and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2012 he became a charter member of the Birmingham Young Professional Kiwanis Club. He served as executive director of the Magic City Agriculture Project from 2013 to 2017. He has served on the executive committee of the Alabama Sierra Club and co-chaired it's "Beyond Coal" committee.
In 2017 Burton co-founded SWEET Alabama and the Friends of Dynamite Hill. Burton was elected to secretary of the Glen Iris Neighborhood Association in 2019 and also serves as secretary of the Southside Community Advisory Committee.
In 2020 Burton was named interim co-chair of Our Revolution-Birmingham.
