The 2017 Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament was held at the BJCC's Legacy Arena on March 8-11, 2017.
Of Conference USA's fourteen teams, twelve participated in the tournament. North Texas (2-16 in C-USA) and Florida International (3-15) failed to qualify. Middle Tennessee came into the tournament as the top seed with a 27-4 overall record (17-1 in CUSA). The UAB Blazers were seeded seventh with a 16-15 overall record (9-9 in CUSA). The top four seeds were given a first-round bye.
Texas-San Antonio, Rice, UAB and Marshall won their first-round match-ups to advance to the quarterfinals on March 9. Old Dominion was the only top-four team to fall in that round, losing 63-64 to Marshall. UAB was eliminated by Louisiana Tech 69-57.
In the semifinals, Middle Tennessee continued to roll, beating Texas-El Paso 82-56 while 6-seed Louisiana Tech upset Marshall 93-77 to advance.
