The Birmingham Stallions (2022) is a professional football team which represents Birmingham as one of eight teams in the United States Football League (USFL), which was launched in 2022 as a revival of the 1980s USFL. The entire league played its inaugural season in Birmingham, primarily using Protective Stadium, with some games scheduled for Legion Field. Due to conflicts with the 2022 World Games, the 2022 USFL playoffs were played in Canton, Ohio.

Coaches

The Stallions are led by head coach Skip Holtz, who also serves as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Additional offensive staff include Jonathan Himebacuh coaching the offensive line, Mike Jones coaching receivers, and Larry Kirksey coaching running backs. On defense, Holtz is assisted by John Chavis as defensive coordinator/linebackers coach, Corey Chamblin as defensive backs coach, and Bill Johnson as defensive line coach.

Roster

The USFL held a 2-day, 35-round draft for players at Protective Stadium on February 2223. The pool of 500 players was made up of free agents who signed contracts with the league. The draft order was selected by random draw, and each round was focused on a specific position. A supplemental draft on March 10 was held to fill the remaining spots on each 38-man roster.
