Brett Eugene Taft Jr (born November 9, 1973 in Hueytown) was a pharmacist and former professional baseball shortstop.
After playing for the Hueytown Golden Gophers, Taft became a four-year starter for Jim Wells at the University of Alabama. Taft hit a home run in his first college at-bat in 1993 and was considered a vital part of the Crimson Tide's 1996 SEC Championship team. Taft ranks second on the Alabama single-season (210, 1996) and career charts (620) for assists. Taft was named SEC Player of the Week for April 8, 1996.
