Burdock Book Collective is a pop-up bookseller launched in August 2018 by Katie Willis and Meagan Lyle. The shop, which specializes in feminist, queer and alternative literature, takes its name from the burdock plant which is sometimes considered a weed and other times a potent curative. The shop was inspired by the former Lodestar Books in Birmingham and Charis Books in Decatur, Georgia.
In addition to regular pop-ups and events, the shop began keeping regular weekly hours at the Quaker Meeting House at 4413 5th Avenue South in July 2019. The collective has ambitions of creating a "brave space" to welcome people of all interests and foster positive communities.
