The CSX Central Alabama Intermodal Facility is a small cargo hub developed by CSX Transportation on 24-acres of the former Pullman Standard Railcar site at Interstate Industrial Park in downtown Bessemer. Though it began operating in September 2009, the facility's grand opening was held on December 1. The cargo hub primarily services shipments of parts for automobile manufacturers in Alabama, including complete engines and transmissions for M-, GL-, and R-Class vehicles produced by Mercedes-Benz US International in Tuscaloosa County.
