The Daniel Building is a 20-story building compeleted in 1970 located between Powell Avenue and 1st Avenue South along 20th Street South. At 283 feet, it is the eighth-tallest building in Birmingham and the tallest building south of the Railroad Reservation. It currently serves as the headquarters for Compass Bank.

The building was constructed by and is owned by Daniel Corporation. One of the original tennants was Alabama Power. In the mid-1990's, Compass Bank moved their headquarters from the 1967 Central Bank building, a 13-story, 165-foot tall building located on 20th Street South between 7th Avenue South and University Boulevard.

Original construction of the Daniel Building was delayed as engineers searched for areas of solid bedrock between limestone cavities on which to erect its caissons.
